{Beautycounter} Review

I’m sure many of you have already heard of Beautycounter products, but for those of you who haven’t, it’s a skin care, hair care and makeup line that focuses on using 100% clean ingredients. Their main goal is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. They formulate their products while following a NEVER LIST that includes thousands of questionable or harmful chemicals that they will never include in any of their products. Over 80% of their ingredients in their products are plant-derived, natural or organic.

I had the privilege of trying several of their skin care and hair care products for the first time this past weekend! I tried several things meant for anti-aging skin, and I think they worked great as preventative products against fine lines and wrinkles.

No 2 Plumping Facial Mask

It’s made with kaolin clay, which is meant to deep clean the pores. “Plumping peony root helps restore skin’s elasticity, while konjac root smooths the appearance of fine lines.” I was impressed with how smooth and clean my skin was after only one use. I only got to try it the one time, so I can’t say it helped the elasticity of my skin, but their site states that after 4 weeks of use, 83% of people felt their skin was more supple. It retails for $48, and I can say truly a little bit goes a long way. I think the one bottle could easily last you 6 months. I recommend this mask for anyone wanting to prevent or correct aging skin.

No 2 Plumping Facial Mist

Like the Plumping Mask, this facial mist also includes peony root, which works on plumping the skin. It’s meant to balance out your skin, and can be used as a makeup setting spray. It’s alcohol-free so it can be used to refresh your skin as many times a day as you feel like using it. It smells very light, which is important to a lot of people who can’t handle anything strong. I recommend this for any skin-type and for anyone wanting to bring more balance to their skin. It retails for $35 and can last anywhere from 3-6 months, depending on how often you’re using it.

No 2 Plumping Facial Oil

This is one product that I was skeptical about using, because I have combination skin. I figured it would benefit either someone with very dry skin, or someone with very oily skin. It actually felt very good! It’s lightweight and doesn’t just sit on the surface of your skin. It sinks in deep to moisturize without feeling too oily. It is meant to help balance out your oil production so your skin knows how much to keep producing. It is made with seven different natural oils, including jasmine for replenishing moisture and argan oil for fighting the appearance of fine lines. It retails for $68, and all you need is two small drops to cover your entire face and neck. The bottle should last you 6-9 months! I recommend this for anyone wanting to prevent or correct deep set wrinkles.

Nourishing Cream Exfoliator and Nourishing Cream Cleanser

These two products come from the same line, meant to bring nourishment and moisture to dry skin. The cream exfoliator is made with jojoba beads, which are round, so they roll on the surface to give a deep exfoliation without scratching or damaging the skin. While working it in with small round circles, sloughing off dead skin cells, at the same time it is also cleaning out clogged pores, leaving your skin radiant and clean. The cream cleanser is very gentle but is also strong enough to remove makeup, so you don’t have to use a pre-cleanser. The cleanser retails for $26 and the exfoliator retails for $34. I recommend these products for anyone with delicate skin, dry skin, or combination skin.

Lip Conditioner With Peppermint

This is my new beauty addiction!!! It feels AMAZINGGGG! It left my lips feeling softer than I’ve ever felt. Plus the peppermint brought a slight tingle, which I loved. It not only FELT good, but it LEFT MY LIPS feeling good for days afterward. It retails for $20 and will last you anywhere from 6-9 months! Use it like a lip mask maybe 2-3 times a week. It would also make a great stocking stuffer.

Daily Shampoo and Conditioner

I am convinced that this shampoo and conditioner dry hair faster than any other shampoo and conditioner I’ve ever used. They smell so good, and leave your hair very soft. I didn’t have to use ANY product in my hair after I used them. They work well at removing any buildup and keep hair clean for a long time. I was able to go 4 days after using them before having to shampoo and condition again. And I probably could have stretched it a day more. They retail for $22 a piece and should last you 6 months. They’re good for any hair type!

Strip Lash Debate

I️ have often wondered if there’s much of a difference between more expensive false lashes and the cheap ones. If you really need to fork out the money for what’s supposed to be better quality lashes, or if they’d look the same either way.

On a whim I️ bought some $2 ELF strip lashes to see if I️ would like them.

I’ve bought the expensive ones before: MAC, Sephora, etc.

My Opinion

I️ can honestly say there IS a difference in the quality between the $2 lashes and the $15 lashes. The $2 lashes from ELF are fun, but they don’t look natural. You can tell that I’m wearing false lashes when I have them on. When you invest in ones from Sephora, for example, they are meant to look like you aren’t wearing any at all. And you can’t tell that you’re wearing them.

So basically my opinion is that obviously spending more money on false lashes is worth it, but if you’re just wanting false lashes for a night out then opt for the cheaper ones. You’re going out which means you’re probably wearing more dramatic makeup anyway. If you’re wanting some to wear on more of a day to day basis then definitely buy the better quality lashes. ESPECIALLY if you’re buying them for a special occasion, like a wedding.

I also keep reading about Lilly Lashes, and I definitely plan on getting some in the near future. I’ll do a review on those as soon as I can!

Have you tried false lashes? What’s your favorite brand?

{Mascara} The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly {Take 2}

I had SO MANY people message me and/or tell me about mascaras I should try next, so I thought everyone would love another mascara review! Last month I reviewed 5 different mascaras (review here) and told the honest truth. The good, the bad, and the ugly. This month I’m here with 3 new mascaras that I’ve tried since, and I’m giving my honest opinion.

First Mascara

I tried Sephora LashCraft Mascara first, and I have to say I really wasn’t impressed. It’s more like the Revlon one that I tried before, just more expensive. No lengthening, no thickening, no volume, it just made them darker. It costs $14 but I definitely don’t think it’s worth trying. It’s pretty ugly, as far as mascaras go. I’d only rate it a 2/10.

Second Mascara

Next I tried MAC Cosmetics False Lashes Mascara and it was pretty good! Someone specifically told me that I HAD to try it because it was their all time fave, and it didn’t disappoint! It brought the volume and the length, which is what I need! It is $23 and I think you should give it a shot. It may be rising to my top 5 Favorites! I’d rate it a 7/10.

Third Mascara

Lastly I tried ELF Cosmetics 3-in-1 Waterproof Mascara. It was one that a friend of mine recommended I try out and write a review on. I have to say that it’s been just an average mascara, but it’s still better than that Sephora one and it costs much less at only $3! As far as mascaras go, it does the job, it just doesn’t “wow”. Would I use it again? Yes I would. If I was at Target and remembered that I was out of mascara it would probably be the one I’d grab. It lengthened and darkened, but it didn’t add any volume or thickness. I rate it a 5/10.

Travel Must- Haves For The Tired Mommy

Traveling can be one of the most refreshing things for a mother, but if you are like me then you stress yourself out trying to pack everything you may need. I’m a classic over packer. There are a few items that I include every time I travel, even if it’s a quick weekend trip, though. My “Refresh Mommy” list.

Photo Oct 17, 11 50 42 AM

1. One thing you don’t want to skimp on is your skin care routine! Most likely on vacation you’ll have a little extra time to pamper yourself, and actually spending the time to follow all of the steps in your skin care routine will make you feel so good. Who doesn’t want to feel relaxed and have glowing skin on their trip?! I recommend Air Repair’s Travel Kit. (You can find my full review on it here.) They cover all skincare essentials in one convenient little tote, and the products are all small enough for your carry-on!

The products are also fit for any climate and are for any skin type. So doesn’t matter if you’re in the snowy mountains or on a sunny beach, you can use these products. Take those extra few minutes each evening and make it a spa-like experience! It will help relax you before bed and hopefully you’ll wake feeling well rested.

2. I never take a trip without a new book to begin! Reading helps me shut my mind off and stop thinking about everything that I need to do, forgot to do, etc. And though I often don’t finish the book on my vacations, it still gives me something to look forward to when I get back home. A book is the best thing for a drained mommy to pack in her bag. Relaxing your mind is just as important as relaxing your body. I haven’t begun it yet, but Big Little Lies is next up on my reading list! I’ve heard nothing but good things!

3. Stylish sunglasses and a big hat. Okay, okay, so it won’t actually relax you to wear cute sunglasses and to wear a hat, but doing so will always make you feel like you’re in vacation mode. Plus they raise the bar of any outfit that you wear with virtually no extra effort so you’ll feel stylish and cute! Which is a must for any trip! If anything they’ll at least mask the dark circles and wrinkles that you earned from all of those nights waking up with your precious angels. I mean, that’s why I wear sunglasses.

These sunglasses are from my new Sol Theory subscription box, which basically just sends me a new pair of a different style each month. {Using my code BLUSHING301 on their website will earn you 20% off your first box.} So far I am loving the fact that I don’t have to choose them myself, because who has time anymore to go try on 30 pairs of sunglasses? They come right to my door, and they’re very reasonably priced! (12.99 for good quality sunglasses. Can’t beat that!)

4.At least one pre-mom outfit should be in your suitcase! You know, the one that you used to wear on dates on the weekends? The one that made you feel good about yourself and didn’t have stains on it from God knows what? Yeah, that one. Pack it! Better yet, fill your entire suitcase with outfits like that! Dress up. Moms can forget how nice it feels to spend time getting yourself dolled up for a night on the town.

It will make you feel young and excited to show off for your husband! Don’t forget the strappy heels that you may have forgotten how to walk in! It will make you feel like yourself again. It’s very refreshing from a mental standpoint.

What do you HAVE to have with you on your trips? Leave it in the comments!

OOTD {Off-The-Shoulder Top}

Photo Oct 14, 11 31 08 AM

I’m loving this whole off-the-shoulder trend happening this year! Just add it to the list of reasons I’m happy I chopped my hair off this season. It really adds something different to your outfit!

Everyone knows by now that I’m not a super trendy girl. Not that I don’t like some of the trends of 2017, but I really have more of a casual style. It’s what I feel most comfortable in. So I keep my personal style, but just add in a little bit of trend and flair here and there. Today it was the off-the-shoulder top that I wore.

Photo Oct 14, 11 31 18 AM

It’s Gap, of course, because I love everything Gap. It’s super comfortable and light, which is perfect for fall days. It can easily be layered under jackets for cooler days, or worn alone for the warmer ones. It’s currently on sale for $19.97 online, with an extra 40% off your purchase!

I posted these jeans in a previous post, but these are also from Gap and I scored them on sale for $9! There’s no link for them anymore, but I’m sure there are similar ones on Gap’s website.

My bracelet is from Francesca’s and it’s one that I’ve had for several years, but it remains my favorite gold bracelet. It has a unique design and is cute alone, or layered with several other bracelets.

Photo Oct 14, 4 29 44 PM

I couldn’t find a similar one to link, but if I ever find one somewhere I will be sure to add it in later!

My boots are from Old Navy and I have them linked in my previous post Fall Staples You Must Have In Your Life. They’re really comfortable and you can score them on Old Navy’s website right now for 40% off! Or if you’re in the Tulsa area I know the store on 71st has them marked down right now with an extra 40% off your purchase! They come in several other colors as well.

Hope everyone is having a fun weekend! I’m about to head out for my first girls night in months, so I am pumped! I’ll share some outfit pics on my Instagram tonight, so be sure to catch those on my Insta Story!

E.l.f. Makeup Haul {And Reviews}

I’m determined to try every E.l.f. Product that comes out because they have yet to disappoint. I mean, HOW ARE THEIR PRODUCTS SO CHEAP?!?! Someone please tell me! AND they just released a lot of new products, so I had to do a makeup haul, obvi. I got 5 of their new products to try out and review for you guys. So grab your pumpkin spice latte and settle in. We are about to begin.

{Eyelash Curler}

It seems like any old eyelash curler should do the trick, but I had been using a Revlon curler these past few months and I wasn’t impressed. I felt like it didn’t fit my eyes well enough to give a good curl to my entire lash line. WELL. Let me be the first to tell you that the e.l.f. Eyelash Curler is small enough to get all of your lashes! It actually curls the lashes on the inside of the eye so they look longer. And the curl seems to last, which usually is a problem for me. My lashes are naturally straight so the curl usually fades within 30 minutes. I don’t know if it’s the combination of my new e.l.f. mascara and the e.l.f. eyelash curler together, or just the curler on it’s own, but the curl is lasting longer! I think I’ve finally found my match made in eyelash heaven.

{Lip Liner}

I got the Natural Lip Pencil to use on a friend of mine of whom I was doing makeup on for her wedding. I actually ended up really loving it on her, and we didn’t even have to use a lip color on top of it because the color was so flattering. I had to try it out for myself, as well, before deciding that I really did like it. It doesn’t FEEL really smooth on, but most lip liners don’t anyway. It seemed to last long enough, especially for a $2 liner. The color is what I love about it. It’s called Natural, but sort of has a coral undertone to it. One side is matte and the other is shimmer. The shimmer side is more of a nude. If you just put a clear gloss over it it would look like a lip stick. Really pretty for fair-skinned ladies.

elf cosmetics

{Eyeshadow Primer}

I first tried this eyeshadow primer on the same girl that I used the lip liner on for her wedding makeup trial. It goes on very smooth and feels super light! It’s not cakey at all. There’s a white one and a natural toned one, which is the one that I purchased. As someone that used it for heavier makeup I would say that it did it’s job pretty well. It isn’t the best eyeshadow primer that I’ve ever used, but it did help give the eyeshadow a bolder appearance than if I hadn’t used a primer.

elf cosmetics

{Brow Pencil}

I usually use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz but I ran out a week ago and thought I’d try out the e.l.f. one to see how it measured up. The colors are a bit limited, with just 3 available for brunettes, while ABH has one for basically any skin tone and color. The fact that it’s only $2 though is pretty amazing! It goes on really well and looks pretty. It can be easily wiped off which can either be great for some people or annoying for others. I think it’s definitely worth trying out, though! I actually really love it, and am mastering making it look very natural.

elf cosmetics

{3-In-1 Mascara}

I’m picky about my mascaras, which you probably remember from my past post {Mascara} The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. This 3-in-1 mascara is supposed to be defining, lengthening and volumizing. I agree with the defining and lengthening part, but it doesn’t seem to add much volume to mine. Maybe I just have bad lashes for this product, since they’re naturally so straight and thin. Maybe it just adds volume to lashes that are already a little voluminous. I don’t know. But I still think it’s worth the $3. I mean, compared to other more expensive brands that are around $20, I’d say it’s definitely comparable! Try it out for yourself and see how it measures up for you.

elf cosmetics

I think we can all agree that e.l.f. products are amazing and easy to fall in love with. I’m super excited to try out more of their new products that they just released this past month, skin care included! What have you tried and loved? Leave it in the comments! I’d really love to hear from you.

Homemade Apple Spice Body Scrub

Welcome to one of my favorite months out of the year- October! With the changing of the seasons come all of the things that I love: cool weather, sweaters, pumpkins, scarves, warm socks, the best smelling candles you’ll ever find. The only downfall of cooler weather is the dryness in the air. It always makes my skin dry and flaky and not so smooth. In order to restore my skin back to a good state I have been using a body scrub! I made a cinnamon body scrub last year that makes my skin feel amazing, but I have been in the mood to change it up. I came across this recipe on Pinterest (of course) and immediately needed to make it ASAP. So that’s exactly what I did. It’s probably the best smelling body scrub I have ever smelled! It’s like fall in a jar. Seriously, you’ll probably want to eat it. It smells like pie. So go to your kitchen and pull out all of these yummy ingredients and try it for yourself!

Photo Oct 02, 6 31 23 PM

2 C brown sugar

1/2 C coconut oil

2 Tbsp. apple pie spice

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. nutmeg

1 tsp. cloves

2 tsp. vanilla essential oil (Although, I like to use more because I love vanilla.)

1 tsp. vitamin E

Photo Oct 02, 6 22 24 PM

Set your coconut oil out to the side first so it can begin melting, so when you add it in later it will mix easier. Get a large mixing bowl and add in all of the ingredients, saving the coconut oil for last. Mix well until it gets to a good consistency. Spoon into a glass jar with a lid, so it will stay fresh until you’re ready to use it!

Photo Oct 02, 6 33 54 PM

Not only does it SMELL amazing, but it makes your skin FEEL amazing! If you love it as much as I do, you should share the love. This body scrub would make for an awesome gift for any teacher, coworker, or family member! One batch fills a few jars, so it should last you awhile. Now go make the scrub! Enjoy.
