Whish {Nourishing Dew Mask} Review

I’ve said numerous times before that I have crazy skin. It is mostly combination, but has lots of mood swings as the seasons (and hormones) change. Lately my skin has been flaky and dehydrated. Like, I cannot put my makeup on without having my nose and forehead becoming like a flaky croissant. It’s bad. It’s so dry here in Oklahoma lately, and I could be better about drinking more water, but I can say I don’t remember it being this bad before. I use my usual products that I’ve been using all winter, and the only thing that has worked is keeping my Air Repair Moisturizer on repeat over and over each day. That means I haven’t been wearing much makeup, because I can’t keep applying moisturizer on just my nose and forehead over my makeup. It would look silly.

So I received this Whish Nourishing Dew Mask several weeks ago in my FabFitFun subscription box (full list of products I received here), and me being the skincare junkie that I am couldn’t even wait a day before trying it. I wanted to use it several times before writing out a review just so I could be sure of how I felt about it and to see if I could see some results from using it regularly. Well something very interesting has happened to my skin since beginning to use this one product just a few times…the flakiness on my skin has disappeared! I haven’t changed anything else about my daily or nightly routines, except adding in this mask 2-3 times a week! The coolest thing is that I forgot to put my moisturizer on yesterday morning after washing the mask off because my skin felt so good! That NEVER happens! I always put it on. After having nothing on my skin for several hours, there was no flakiness. Not even the feeling of having dry skin. I have never encountered that before!

The goal of this mask is to cover your skin in intense hydration, reduce inflammation and redness, and fight fine lines and wrinkles. I haven’t noticed any fine line reduction YET but I’m not even into my third week of using it so I’ll update later on how it’s working on that.

It’s super simple to use, as is most masks. You apply a quarter size amount to your face, let it soak in for 10 minutes, and then wash off with warm water. It doesn’t harden or make your skin feel tight, it stays soft and I absolutely love that about it.

It retails for $54, and I am so excited I got such an amazing product in my FabFitFun box! I’m definitely hooked now!

Best {Pink Lipstick} Picks For Valentine’s Day

Valentines Day is creeping up on us and will be here before we know it! I, personally, love V-Day, but probably just because my birthday is the day after and my husband always combines the two to spoil me rotten. Every year we dress up really nice and go out on an amazing date! I like to wear some bright lipstick to make me feel a little extra, and it’s always hard choosing just one shade to wear. I swear I try on like 10 different lipsticks before picking one! I get asked a lot about my favorite brands and shades, so I thought I’d break it down a little and start with the pinks.

Bite Beauty – Kimchi – Shocking Pink

Photo Jan 25, 12 50 35 PM

It’s such a bright pink and I love it! It isn’t a liquid or a long lasting lip color, so you do have to reapply! It also can smudge, so remember that when you’re wiping your face during dinner. But the color is so fun and bold that it’s worth it. Also, the creamy texture is nice because your lips stay moisturized, which you don’t often get with a lipstick. It retails for $26.

Too Faced – Melted Matte – It’s Happening!

Photo Jan 13, 7 31 15 AM

This lipstick is long lasting and doesn’t smudge! The pink is so Barbie. I’m not a blonde, but I’d bet this pink would be super fun to wear for blondes! It is matte, so if you like some shine this would need a gloss over it. It retails for $21.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Matte Lip Color – Wine

Photo Jan 09, 4 26 51 PM

This lip color is a little on the darker side, but still so rich and bold! It would definitely be perfect for Valentine’s Day date night! It’s creamy, so it will smear if you wipe it. It has an interesting feeling when it’s on your lips. Kinda soft, but kinda dry. It isn’t a long lasting lip color, so you will have to reapply! You can’t beat the price, though. It retails for $3. So you could actually go buy several different shades at that price!

Stila – Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Venezia

Stila is one of my favorite lipstick brands because I love how well their liquid lipsticks stay on! I have several shades by them and each one is better than the last! This is the very first one I received in my Birchbox subscription box, so it’s pretty old. Because the color is so different and bright I don’t wear it very often, so it’s lasted me at least a year and a half. When I do wear it, I love it! It’s got some coral undertones, which is one of my favorites. It retails for $22.

NYX – Soft Matte Lip Cream – Milan

This NYX lipstick is actually a lot lighter than I imagined based on the color of the tube. It goes on as more of a Barbie pink. I like how soft it feels, and doesn’t dry your lips out. It’s not expensive, so you can buy several shades for a reasonable price. This pink looks really good on brunettes, but I also imagine it going with light colored hair really well. I also have only been able to pair this with black outfits. I haven’t found a good outfit that wasn’t black that looked really good with this shade. It’s a little tricky, but would be really fun for Valentine’s Day! It retails for $6.49.

Revlon – ColorStay – Flashing Lights

This is very shimmery and light coral. It would be beautiful on red heads, brunettes, blondes, or black haired women! It’s also priced really well, so it’s very affordable. It retails for $4.99. I don’t wear this very often, either, but it’s fun and different. Sometimes it’s nice to wear something out of your comfort zone. It’s called “colorstay” lipstick but I haven’t found that it stays on super well. I have to retouch it several times throughout the night, so make sure to bring the tube with you to reapply.

Mirenesse – Mattfinity Moisturizing Matte Lip Rouge – 6. Paris

You can probably tell from the tube, but this is one of my older lip colors. I also got this one in a Birchbox, and I have worn it a lot. It’s actually almost gone now, but I’m going to use up every little bit of it! This feels really good on the lips. It’s smooth and soft, and when it dries my lips don’t feel cakey and hard. They stay moisturized! This one is a good pink because it can be worn any time of the year. It’s long lasting, but kinda comes off a little bit on the inside of the mouth after eating. Bring the tube with you for retouching! You can’t beat the versatile color! I haven’t found it left at a lot of places since it’s an older color, but I found it as cheap as $27.72 on Walmart.com.

Revlon – Super Lustrous Lipstick – Softsilver Rose

This one is a little different than the other lipsticks on this list because it has a shimmer to it. I have to be in the mood to wear a shimmery lipstick, and it has to be paired with just the right outfit! It is a creamy lipstick, so it isn’t long lasting but the color is really pretty and fun! Plus it isn’t very expensive. It retails for $4.99! Perfect for Valentine’s Day!

{Mascara} The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Round 3

Everyone loves these posts so much, so I’ll continue to do them as long as you guys are asking! I’ve reviewed around 10 different mascaras that I’ve tried in the past 6 months (find Round 1 here and Round 2 here) and I give my honest opinions on them. I go through tons of brands and price points so you don’t have to! There’s been some that have surprised me, some that I could live without, and some that have quickly risen to the top of my favorites list.

Here we go, round three of Mascara reviews!

Photo Jan 10, 4 40 01 PM

Let’s begin with the Xtension Plus Curl Mascara by MarcelleThe main goal of this mascara is to give lots of length and lots of curl (duh), and I would say it did only one of those things for me. My lashes are naturally very straight, so it takes a lot for them to keep a curl. I was excited to try this mascara to see if it could do anything for me and my straight lashes, but sadly it did not. It was a very good lightweight mascara, and it did add some length to my lashes, just didn’t curl very well. It also wore pretty well and didn’t flake or smear throughout the day. I would say it’s an average mascara. If you have no problem with your lashes not wanting to curl maybe it would work really well for you! I wouldn’t NOT recommend this mascara, I would just say to be wary if you’re wanting it for the same reason I did. It retails for $15 and I would rate it a 2.5/5.

Photo Jan 22, 10 24 46 AM.jpg

Next up is Urban Decay’s Troublemaker Mascara. The goal of this mascara is to give you super dark, super defined, super fat, separated lashes! I actually really really like this mascara! It did darken, define, and sort of lengthen my lashes without making them clumpy. I really really don’t like when my lashes clump together, and this mascara allowed me to do several coats STILL without getting clumpy. I just wish it lengthened a LITTLE bit more. I feel like it could have done better in that department. Their website also says something about the comb assisting in bringing some curl, and I could see a little bit before using my lash curler. It also doesn’t weigh your lashes down, and feels very natural, if that’s important to you. It retails for $24 and I would rate it a 4/5!

Beautycounter has reformulated their Volumizing Mascara, and I was lucky enough to get to try it out for myself. I really really wanted to like this mascara, because I love the company that it belongs to. They believe in making all of their products clean and free from harmful ingredients, and even have a “never list” that includes hundreds of things you won’t ever worry about finding in their products. I know that’s important to a lot of people out there, and if it is the most important thing to you when choosing your beauty products then you should definitely try it out! It just isn’t my top priority when choosing my mascaras. I thought the mascara did an okay job. It didn’t darken as well as others, even after two coats. It didn’t lengthen my lashes or curl them, but it did keep them separated and fanned out. I couldn’t really tell that I was wearing any mascara, it just kind of enhanced my natural lashes a bit. It retails for $29 and I’d rate it a 2/5.

Nars Audacious Mascara has risen to the top of my favorites list! I adore this mascara! It defined, lengthened, darkened, curled, and amplified my lashes more than most of the other mascaras that I’ve tried! It didn’t clump or flake, and it was easy to remove without damaging my natural lashes. It gave my lashes a dramatic look, almost like I was wearing false lashes! I’m pretty picky about my mascaras, and I have nothing to complain about for this one. I would highly recommend that you try this mascara! It retails for $26, and I’d rate it a 5/5!

Last but not least we have the e.l.f. Cosmetics Volume Plumping Mascara. I post about e.l.f. quite a bit these days, because I’m slowly trying to work my way through trying all of their products. I’ve tried a few other mascaras by them, but this one is my favorite so far. It is by far the cheapest mascara that you will find, but the beauty is that they don’t compromise on their quality. I used several coats, and there was definite plumping going on. Now, it does get a little on the clumpy side when you start adding additional coats, but I would say it’s a small price to pay when you consider that it’s only $3! Yes, you read that correctly, only $3! I didn’t get any of the curl that I need, but this mascara doesn’t necessarily boast about bringing curl. It’s main focus is to bring volume and definition. It did the job! I would say it’s worth trying out! I rate this mascara a 3.5/5.

What are some more mascaras that you want to hear more about? Let me know in the comments below!

{e.l.f.} Exfoliating Scrub Review

I feel like I’m slowly working my way through every e.l.f. product, but I’ve had so many people ask me about their skin care and how it stacks up against more expensive brands so I like to review everything I can. For those of you who don’t know already, I am a licensed aesthetician, so I get asked about things on a weekly basis. What certain ingredients do, what kind of ingredients should you look for when buying skin care, what products help with what, etc. You get the picture. So let’s start with what’s in the ELF Exfoliating Scrub.

What’s In It?

This Scrub is made with Vitamin E, purified water, walnut, and apricot. It’s free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, so you don’t have to worry about having a bad reaction to it, unless you’re allergic to a particular ingredient. Vitamin E is always a great ingredient to find in your skin care because it builds up your natural collagen production, it adds extra moisture, and it’s a powerful antioxidant, which means it fights free radicals to help slow the aging process.

Apricots are also amazing for your skin! They contain tons of antioxidants, the ground kernels from apricots help with the scrub texture and aid in the exfoliating process, and the oil from apricots helps in maintaining suppleness, clarity, and elasticity. It also dives deep into the pores, cleaning out blackheads and dirt, resulting in radiant skin!

What My Skin Looks Like After Using It

I definitely noticed a very clean appearance the second after washing my face. My skin actually has a glow to it now, which I think is because I haven’t exfoliated in a week, so it definitely sloughed off the dead skin. It’s supposed to leave your skin looking radiant, and I’d say it works! My skin also feels very smooth, and clean.

How To Use It

It’s actually super simple to use. Wet your skin with water, and then work the scrub into your skin using small circular motions. Focus on areas where you usually get blackheads and clogged pores. Make sure you work it in for a good minute, at least, to get the full benefit. Obviously if you slap it on and immediately wash it off it won’t do much for you, so use it when you can spend some time on your skin.

It feels a little gritty, so don’t scrub too hard! You don’t want to damage the skin, just apply some light pressure. Splash some water on your face to wash it off. Voila! Smooth, beautiful skin!

I would say it’s worth every penny!! Compared to more expensive brands it holds up well. It retails for $5! You seriously can’t beat that price when you’re looking at a good quality product. I highly recommend this product!

Have you tried it before? What are your thoughts?! Let me know in the comments.

{fabFitfun} #editorsbox

I feel like I waited for this package to come for weeks and weeks, and I finally got it yesterday and wasn’t disappointed! It’s safe to say that it was worth the wait. There’s so many fun things inside that I never expected! First of all, it’s ALL full sized products- no tester or sample sizes here. It’s valued at over $200 and is only a small fraction of that cost. I am blown away with the amount of things they include. fab fit and so much fun!

This Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer smells AMAZING! It’s scented like Bulgarian Rose, and it feels so cool! The sponge is soft and cold, and has a little bit of texture for exfoliation. I can’t wait to try it!

The colors in the REAL HER Play Book Palette are phenomenal. They’re really pigmented, and the shimmer adds so much to the colors. I’m going to post some pics later this week using my favorite colors from this palette.

I am super stoked about this Makeup Drop Silicone Applicator!! I don’t use liquid foundation very often, but when I do I don’t like applying it with a brush. I’m definitely going to test this out this week to see if I can tell a difference between it and a brush.

This beautiful necklace from Summer and Rose surprised me the most. I had no idea that jewelry came included in this box! It is so simple, which is exactly what I like in my jewelry. It’s unique and different from any other necklace that I have.

If I’m being honest, I don’t really know how much I’ll use this Muscle Soak Himalayan Salt. I don’t ever really work out to the point that my muscles need to be cooled…BUT I will be training for a half marathon these next few months, so maybe after those long runs this will come in handy! It smells good, at least.

This gym bag is tied for favorite with the amazing Mer Sea cozy wrap! It could not describe me more. Lol. I work out so I can eat bread. And cupcakes. And ice cream. It’s jean material, and has a little pocket for your keys and chapstick on the side. I love it so much! But like I said, it’s tied with this gorgeous blush wrap! Softest scarf I’ve ever felt. And the colors could not be more perfect!

{e.l.f. Cosmetics} Liquid Matte Lipstick Review

You guys are going to get a 2-for-1 tonight! I bought two new e.l.f. Cosmetics lip products and I’ll go ahead and review them both together instead of breaking them up. Let me start by saying I always love e.l.f. products! I’ve tried so so many of them and I have yet to really be disappointed. They’re affordable and don’t compromise on quality. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a little bit of a makeup junkie, so it’s easy for me to buy these products and can still enjoy trying new things without breaking the bank.

Lets begin with the lip product I bought yesterday.

Photo Jan 09, 4 26 51 PM

The Matte Wine Lip Color is a little different than I expected. It comes in more of a crayon form and is applied like a lipstick. I guess I expected it to come in a tube that you’d use a stick applicator to apply it with, more like you would a gloss. Because of that I had a little bit of trouble applying it evenly around the edges of my mouth. It took me a few coats to get it looking really clean and even, but once I got it on I really loved it! Although I used several coats of it I didn’t feel super weighed down and cakey. My lips felt smooth and the color was glorious! It isn’t as deep as I thought it would be, but the color still looked beautiful and rich. It was $3!!! Yes, you read that correctly, $3! It truly doesn’t get any more affordable than that! It didn’t smudge really, but I did have to reapply a little after eating dinner. It came off at the end of the night very easily with my Yes To Cucumbers makeup removing wipes. I love this makeup product and definitely will be trying out several of the other 12 shades!

Photo Jan 10, 2 49 26 PM

The lip color I got today is one of their new releases, and I was so excited when I found it! I got the Long Lasting Liquid Matte Lipstick in Blushing Rose. It is $5, and TOTALLY worth every penny! Seriously, I have found my new lipstick obsession. It differs from the other lip product in that it’s meant to last a very long time without coming off, so there’s not a lot of reapplying happening throughout the day. I put it on the second I got in the car at 12 o’clock today and I have touched it up once. That’s after eating dinner, going out for ice cream, and drinking water all day long. I was very impressed with how well it stayed on! And the best part is that a little bit goes a long way. I didn’t have to use a lot to where my lips felt cakey and weird. It feels very natural and light, which is important to me. It comes in 11 shades, so there’s a shade for every skin tone! I’m super excited to stock up on some more colors! If you’re looking for a new lipstick to try, this is the one that I’d recommend you get!

Photo Jan 10, 4 21 38 PM

Blushing Rose is just the perfect shade I’ve been searching for. I’ve been wanting something a little darker and I love that I’ve found it!

What’s your favorite e.l.f. Lipstick shade? I’d love to hear about what I should try next! Leave your suggestions in the comments!

{Winter Faves} VIB

I feel like I say this all of the time, but I really am going to try and be more consistent with blogging regularly. With the holidays over and things settling back down I can finally share some finds I made over the past few weeks! I love shopping right after the holidays because everything is on clearance and you can find excellent products for almost nothing!

Anyone use Kristin Ess products on their hair? Well I was lucky enough to find several of her holiday gift sets for only $3! I had been wanting to try her shampoo and conditioner, so I stocked up and used it for the first time a few days ago. I absolutely love the way it makes my hair feel and smell. It’s really lightweight and my hair still feels really clean even after several days. I think I’m hooked!

I also got some of the Kristin Ess Working Texture Spray. A good friend of mine said she loves it, so I decided I had to try it. I curled my hair with a wand, and before brushing the curls out with my fingers, I added several sprays of the texture spray. First starting at the roots and then a tiny bit in the middle of the curls. That’s when I worked it in a little, combing through the curls with my fingers. It brought a little extra volume to my hair, and helped show my layers more, which I love when it’s curled. I’ll do a little tutorial later this week using it, so look for that soon!

I got this AMAZING Lorac Unzipped eyeshadow palette for Christmas, and the colors are fantastic! I love more natural tones when it comes to the eyes, and this color palette is perfect. There’s also a few darker colors so I can also use it when I want a more dramatic eye. I pair it with Buxom mascara and my favorite Kat Von D Ink Liner.

I keep trying new eyeliners, but I keep coming back to Kat Von D. I love it too much. It’s definitely a favorite of mine. Watch for 15% off emails if you’re a Sephora beauty Insider- I’ve gotten several these past few months!!

By far one of my favorite products I’ve received lately! If you need a good mask, I highly recommend this one. A little bit goes a long way, and it leaves my skin so soft and supple. It’s focuses on plumping the skin, and working on the collagen production for fine lines and wrinkles. I also got the Beauty Counter Peppermint Lip Balm and I couldn’t be more in love. I have been putting it on several times a week at night as like a lip treatment! My lips have not felt dry or cracked since I’ve been using it. Plus, if you know me you know that I have a thing for peppermint.

Find any great deals on products lately? I’d love to know what and where!!

{OOTD} 2017 Recap

So another year is ending, and this was the first year that I actually blogged a little about fashion! I definitely wouldn’t consider myself any kind of fashion idol or anything. I love super casual and comfy outfits (usually still cute), and most bloggers are super glamorous and wear tons of designer items on a daily basis. I don’t. Not that I don’t love the LV bags and the amazing dresses, because I’d wear it all, BUT it isn’t realistic for me. My kids are messy, and they pull on my clothes and stretch them out, and I need things that I can wear without worrying about them being ruined every day. Which I feel is very relatable for my followers. Even if you aren’t a parent, comfy and casual is very easy and fits a lot of personalities. So I’m sharing a recap of my favorite outfits that I’ve posted in 2017 for those of you who share the same tastes in style!

Speaking of good deals, there are TONS of sales going on today at all of the above mentioned places, so make sure you go check them out!

{My} IPhone Photography Secret Weapon

Lately I’ve been really wanting to change up and improve my blog posts, and a big part of that is through my photos. I really want to get better at photography, but it’s been impossible to find enough time in the day. My kids keep me so busy, which is why I’m only blogging about once a week right now. I also don’t own one of the big amazing cameras like a lot of other bloggers, so I have to rely on my iPhone to take pictures with.

I decided to try something out that I normally would not have invested in, but I thought that it might help make a little difference so I bought it anyway. Plus it was only $12 online with free shipping, so it really wouldn’t have been a big loss if it didn’t turn out to be good. Turns out, it was a pretty good investment! I bought this e.l.f. Cosmetics Glow On The Go Selfie Light that can attach to your phone!

It can go either direction, so it can be used for selfies, or even just better lighting when you’re focusing on products. There’s dim, bright, and brightest light settings so it can be used anytime throughout the day or night.

Now I know it doesn’t make or break a good photo, BUT I think it does help enhance them. I’m happy with my purchase and may include it in my New Year’s Giveaway in a few weeks! I’ll share some more details on that in the coming weeks!

Who would like to try my new secret weapon out for themselves?!

A Few Of My Favorite {Beauty Hacks}

So I’m sorry I haven’t been posting much lately, it’s been crazy at the Erdogan household this past few months. We put our house on the market at the beginning of November and accepted an offer 3 days later, which was just the beginning of the craziness. Then there were tons of people needing to come by for repairs, inspections, etc., etc. and the packing of our entire house…it was just busy every single day! Plus we traveled to Nashville for Thanksgiving! So we are finally moved out as of a few days ago! Now I can get a little bit of normalcy back in my life.

I dropped one of my favorite eye shadow palettes this morning on the bathroom floor and it busted several of the colors, which is just typical of my week, but then I remembered that it really isn’t a big deal because I can fix it! I’m sure several of you know what I’m talking about already, but for those of you who don’t, I’m going to let you in on a little secret.

Fixing A Broken Palette

Photo Dec 08, 10 00 07 AM

It can be done! Don’t throw away your broken eye shadow palettes!!! Or your pressed powders. Or your brozers. All you need to do is go grab some rubbing alcohol and a few q-tips. Put a few drops of alcohol into each broken color and then use a q-tip to break it up and then press it back down. Let it dry. Voila! It’s no longer broken! Such a quick fix, and totally worth the work.

Out Of {Lip Scrub?}

Photo Dec 08, 4 08 09 PM

Lip scrubs are something that I love to keep on hand at all times, but there have been a few times that I have gone to use it and realized I was out. No, you don’t need to drive all the way over to Sephora or Target to get a new one before applying your lipstick, you just need some vaseline and a disposable mascara wand! Dip out a small amount of vaseline onto the back of your hand, and then with the mascara wand, work the vaseline into your lips for a minute or two. Not a very cute stocking stuffer, but so easy and so cheap!

 Re-moisturize Your Dried Out Mascara

Too Faced Better Than Sex, Elf blush

I don’t know about you, but when I’m almost out of my favorite mascara I want to make sure I get out every last bit of it! So I scrape the sides about 10 times before I finally give up and throw it out. BUT I just learned of a little tip that will change my days of scraping mascara tubes. Add a few drops of saline into the mascara tube and use the mascara brush to scrape the sides and mix it around. You can get several good uses out of it after that! Who knew?!
