Pretty Animalz Panda Sheet Mask Review

Sheet masks are always hit or miss, no matter the brand or price. Some people love them, and some people hate them. Personally, I prefer the masks that apply evenly to my face from a bottle because they’re what I’m used to using on a regular basis. I changed up my routine last week and used a Pretty Animalz Sheet Mask and it effected my skin more than I anticipated.

First off let me say that I have been struggling with dry skin since about November of last year. The winter continued to be hard on my skin, so I had to find some very hydrating products and use them religiously. Well, since the weather has started to warm a little my skin was evening out, and I had my miracle products that saved my skin. I thought I could try a sheet mask and change up my routine.

The Panda Mask is supposed to be a Calming Mask and help smooth out rough patches to reveal smoother, brighter skin. It actually did the opposite for me! There’s something in it that I’m allergic to, because immediately after removing the mask I saw bright red spots all over my face. They didn’t hurt at all so I thought my skin was just having a slight flare up and would calm down overnight. I was so wrong! I used it on April 18th and still to this day I’m dealing with what it did to my face.

My skin has been blotchy, red, flaky, and super itchy! I have been using Air Repair Rescue Balm just to give me some relief from the itching and the peeling skin. I wouldn’t recommend this mask to anyone with even a tiny bit of sensitivity in their skin because I’m afraid it could do the same thing to you! I’m a licensed esthetician so I know how to treat my skin responsibly, and I’m struggling to resolve these issues.

I don’t like sharing pictures of my face like this, but I wanted everyone to see how even with makeup on I cannot cover these spots on my face. My skin hasn’t been this terrible since after I first had Ellis and my hormones were a mess! You can see all of the rough flaky skin on my cheeks, nose, and forehead.

This mask retails for only $3.99 but I wouldn’t recommend it. This mask didn’t brighten my complexion, calm, or hydrate my skin. Only use it if you have tough skin.

If you have skin issues and would like a consultation with an esthetician I am available every Monday from 9-5 and every Thursday evening from 3-9 at Ihloff Utica Square. Stop in or call 918-587-2566 to book an appointment in advance.

MURAD Skin Perfecting Lotion Review

As you all know I love trying new skincare! I will use anything, any brand, at any price point. I want to discover everything that works and share it with all of my followers! This is a product I received in my FabFitFun Spring Box, and was super excited to start using it. I’ve used random Murad products before, but never one of their moisturizers. This one specifically excited me because it’s a skin perfecting lotion, so I thought that meant it would correct my discoloration and blemishes.

Let’s start with what I like most about this moisturizer. I love how it feels on my skin. It soaks right in and doesn’t sit on the surface. There’s no oily film left to make me feel weighed down, and it does its job of hydrating well. I really like that it helps control the shine throughout the day.

What I discovered about this lotion though, is that it didn’t help with evening my complexion or discoloration. I don’t know if it’s just my really light skin tone that isn’t easily corrected or if it just didn’t work on me. I’d like to know how it worked for someone with a darker skin tone.

It DID however make my lines look softer. It does contain a light amount of retinol, which I assume is the ingredient responsible. I noticed that it softened the lines on my forehead, which really bug me so I am really excited about that!

I would probably rate it a 4/5. It’s good for any skin tone, but I’d recommend it for someone specifically with a dry to normal skin type. It retails for $40.

Have you tried this Murad lotion yet? How did it work for you? Let me know in the comments!

Sephora Honey Lip Scrub Review + {First Spring OOTD}

I’ve been on a little hiatus (again), but I’m back with several posts ready to go!

First up is a product that I have used for several months now that I’ve been using about twice a week to help keep my lips smooth. The Sephora Honey Lip Scrub is a good product to have on hand because anyone can use it, men and women. It’s meant to help slough off dead skin on and around your lips, while leaving them hydrated and not dried out.

How It’s Different

Well to start, it comes in a range of six different flavors, each one containing one different main ingredient to benefit your lips in different ways. They cost the same ($6) and all come in a tube for easy application. They come in Balm form and also Scrub form. Each one is formulated without the use of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. I noticed that the main difference between the Sephora Honey Lip Scrub is different than other lip scrubs in that it is much cheaper but does just as good a job.

It goes on smooth and is super easy to apply. It contains sugar and honey as the main exfoliating ingredients, but isn’t sticky at all! I highly recommend this product – I rate it a 5/5!

{First Spring OOTD}

The weather here in Tulsa has been pretty bad this past week, but before all of this cold and rain we got one good week of beautiful Spring weather! I was able to take advantage when I had a date night with my husband and got to actually wear this cute tank top.

I got the blouse from Target last summer, but my tan wedges I got from there just a few weeks ago. They come in two different colors, and are still in stock online.

My jeans are from Nordstrom Rack and my bag is one that I added on to my Spring subscription box of FabFitFun! I absolutely love the size of my black Lionel bag!

Earlier that day I wore this flowy white blouse from Nordstrom Rack paired with this Rachel Pally reversible floral clutch, which I also received in my FabFitFun box!

How’s the weather where you’re at? I hope someone is getting some good Spring weather right now! Let me know in the comments below!

Products That Saved My Skin This Winter

My mom took Emery for the afternoon, and Ellis just went down for a nap so I thought to myself, “okay I have 3 options…I can exercise. I can blog. Or I can put makeup on and actually style my hair.” Blogging won today! Somehow both of my kids are at very needy stages right now and most days I don’t know how I made it through without a gallon of coffee! Most days I have to pick and choose what I have time for, and the other days I don’t even have the option to focus on me. So you better believe I am going to take full advantage of this little afternoon break!

Raise your hand if you are excited that it’s finally officially spring! Both of my hands are up. I am so so happy winter is over. It’s my least favorite season, by far. My skin suffers greatly, and it takes me weeks to get my skin back to normalcy after a flair up. My skin loves springtime, though, and I have more good skin days than bad! There are a few products that have been my saving grace during these cold and dry winter months. The only things that have helped keep my skin hydrated and have helped with the flakiness. I don’t even want to know what my skin would be like right now if I hadn’t have used them!

I did a review on this product a few months ago, and I stand by my assessment! It changed my skin for the better. I still use it every week! It’s specifically for dry, aging skin, but honestly I think it could benefit everyone! It’s nourishing ingredients have healing benefits that anyone could use more of. It completely removes any flaky skin I have, which not many products can do for me. If you are suffering from dry, rough skin you need this in your life! It retails for $54 and it’s worth every dollar.

Air Repair Cleansing Milk

Unfortunately I went several months this winter without my favorite cleanser because I ran out and didn’t replace it right away. Big mistake. As soon as I used it again after not having it for so long my skin felt so much better. It felt smooth and soft. Not dry or tight anymore. The thing I love most about this cleanser is that it deep cleans my skin without making my skin feel tight afterwards. Does anyone else have that problem? I feel like I’m not the only one who hates that tight feeling after using some cleansers. This is by far the best cleanser I’ve ever used and I don’t know if I’ll ever change! It retails for $10 but the bottle is on the small size. A little bit goes a long way, though, so you shouldn’t run out too quick.

Air Repair Rescue Balm

I’ll admit when I first received this product I wasn’t sure how to use it. It’s kind of thick and waxy feeling and didn’t spread super easy. Well, after using it a few times on my hands I fell in love. I figured out how to warm it a little before applying it and it came out soft and applied easily. I use it everywhere! Hands, feet, face, lips. It’s an all-purpose product! I’ve never used anything like it! My favorite way to use it on my face is to use it like a spot treatment. Anywhere that I see redness or that feels rough I apply it before bed and leave it on all night. Works like magic! It retails for $13.50 and lasts forever!

Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion

This is what I call my secret weapon! I carry it around with me everywhere. I love it because I can use it on myself or my kids. The oatmeal in it is good for dry skin, plus it’s fragrance-free. This lotion is awesome for the whole body, I’ve even used it on my face before with no issues! It works instantly to soothe the skin. I use it every single day. I suffer from eczema on my wrists during the wintertime, and this lotion is the only lotion I’ve found that takes away the itchy feeling and helps heal the broken skin. I even use it on sunburns in the summertime! It’s my favorite body lotion, by far! It retails for $8.99 and you’ll use up every ounce of it.

Did anyone else have a rough winter? Let me know in the comments below what worked for you!

{FabFitFun} Spring Box Unveiling

Earlier this week I received my second FabFitFun box ever, and I am so excited to share what I got! First let me start by saying I am super impressed with this subscription. They pack the box full of full-sized skin care, makeup, hair care, nail care products, AND fashion accessories. Not to mention fitness accessories and home decor items! Then they have add-ons, which for a certain week are so cheap! Normal prices slashed down between $5-$20! Last time I didn’t have time to get any of these, but this time I was prepared!

What I Added

I am obsessed with this bag! It’s a Lionel Handbag that I got for a steal, and it’s the perfect size!

The Lack of Color hat is going to be amazing for this spring and summer seasons. I’m so happy I picked this color because it will be able to go with anything!

This coffee-to-go mug is super cute and is pretty large. It will fit a full size coffee with room to spare for cream and sugar!

What Came With The Spring Box

I don’t even know where to begin! There were so many amazing things in the Spring Box that I can’t even pick my favorite item!

Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion might just be my new go-to moisturizer for the warmer weather seasons. It’s a lightweight, oil-free lotion for blemish-prone skin! That is exactly what I look for in a moisturizer.

Dove sent a sample of their new Exfoliating Body Polish, which I’ve read good things about. I never turn down a good body polish, and I can’t wait to try this one out!

KNC Beauty Collagen Lip Masks are so cool! I’ve never tried a collagen lip mask, but I could definitely use some plumping! My experience with them is that they plump about as much as one of those lip glosses that tingle. So they don’t work miracles, but they definitely do a little somethin!

Anderson Lilley Fresh Linen Candle was a nice surprise! I didn’t know the FabFitFun box included home decor items! Not only does it smell good, but it’s in a cute copper tin, which is a nice change from the usual glass.

Free People & Understated Leather Cooling Pack Eye Mask might possibly be the one thing I never knew I was missing! It. Feels. Amazing!! Seriously, it relaxes instantly. Keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours and then put it on at night after you’ve applied your eye cream. It will put you right to sleep!

Dermelect Anti-aging Ridge Filler Nail Treatment was an interesting choice. I can’t say that I have a need for it right now in my life, but I’ll pass it along to my mom! I’m sure she will get some good use out of it! It’s a neutral color, which I know she will enjoy.

Physique 57 Massage Roller is something I will definitely get some use out of! And I think my husband will probably use it, too!

Ish Lip Statement Palatte is so so beautiful! The colors are so bright and fun! I love all of the variety! It’s a 12-in-1! Seriously, I can’t believe how much is in this palatte!!

Rachel Pally Reversible Clutch bag is perfect! It unfolds to give you more space, and it’s reversible if you don’t enjoy the printed side of the bag. I really love the floral print, but some outfits would really pair great with the solid mustard color on the inside.

Ettika Day Dreamer Tassel Earrings are the perfect colors! They’re two shades of pink on a gold chain. I have been looking for some good tassel earrings to buy, and now I don’t have to look anymore!

If you haven’t tried the FabFitFun Subscription yet, then you definitely should! I am so happy with what I’ve received and I highly recommend it! It’s always good brands, and full-sized items!

What did you receive in your Spring Box? Let me know in the comments!

{Follow-Up} Whish Nourishing Dew Mask Review

Several weeks ago I posted a review on the Whish Nourishing Dew Mask (find that here) that I received from my last FabFitFun subscription box, and I said I was going to update later on how it was working on the fine lines on my forehead and around my lips.

First let me start by saying it is truly one of my favorite masks that I’ve ever used. It does so many cool things for my skin, including diminishing flakiness and improving the texture and tone of my skin. The Whish website claims that it will “reduce the appearance of fine lines and inflammation”. As for the inflammation claim, I have noticed a more even tone after just the first use! I have lots of pink undertones in my face and this mask is so soothing that I noticed an instant difference! That alone is enough to make me love it. Add on top of that that it completely erased the flaky skin I had around my nose and made my skin so soft, it rose directly to the top of my mask favorites list!

Like I said, the Whish website also claims that it improves the appearance of those pesky fine lines and wrinkles. I had only used the mask for a few weeks when I wrote my first review so I didn’t have enough time to monitor the changes on the lines on my forehead and around my lips. Now that it’s been a good 6 weeks since I began using this mask I can share what changes I’m seeing in that department.

I don’t have any deep set wrinkles yet, but I do have many fine lines that bother me. So far I have noticed a little bit of improvement on the lines on my forehead for sure, but haven’t noticed a change in the lines around my lips yet. That is also probably my fault. I have this annoying habit of nibbling on my lips and cheeks, which I do for who knows how long before I realize it. So it definitely contributes to the lines around my lips, and those probably won’t go away until I fully ditch that habit. Along with this mask I have been using an e.l.f. exfoliating scrub twice a week, a Juice Beauty Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream every night,  BeautyCounter Cleansing Balm every night, Coola sunscreen every morning, the Ole Henriksen Vitamin C Serum every morning and night, and the Air Repair Facial Mist and Moisturizer every morning and night. I WAS using Air Repair Cleansing Milk every morning but I ran out and haven’t replaced it yet! All of those things have one thing in common- they’re good for dry skin. Using the correct type of home care products is very important in receiving the results you want. I struggle with dry skin and fine lines, so all of the skin care products I use target those issues. Would I receive amazing results from just one product? Maybe not. But pairing an amazing product with other products meant to fix the issues you’re struggling with will make all the difference!

What are your thoughts on the Whish Nourishing Dew Mask? I would love to know what everyone else thinks!

Winter OOTD Roundup

I haven’t done many fashion posts lately because I’ve had so many good products to review and not a lot of extra time. I’m back in school and we are building a house! Both of those things are exciting but quite time consuming! My goal for Spring is to post a lot more OOTD pics and definitely include more blogs about fashion. So here we are, coming to the end of the season (couldn’t happen soon enough) and I want to share the details of my favorite outfits from winter!

{Sweater: Old Navy.White spaghetti-strap V-neck: Target.Jeans: Target.Shoes: Steve Madden.}

{Hat: Urban Couture.Gray shirt: Target.Pink plaid: Old Navy.Jeans: Gap. Shoes: Steve Madden.Sunglasses: Sol Theory (below).}

{Puffy vest: Old Navy. Jeans: American Eagle.Shoes: Aldo.}

I just realized I’m wearing the same jeans and same boots in a lot of these pictures! Guess you can tell what my favorites were this season! I love a lot of the pieces that come with cool weather like scarves, plaid shirts, and cute coats but I am VERY MUCH looking forward to Spring. Who else is with me?

What were some of your winter staples that you wore a lot this season? Let me know in the comments!

Juice Beauty {Stem Cellular} Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream Review

I started using an organic eye cream about 6 weeks ago to compare the results with other non-organic eye creams. I wanted to use it for a good long stretch so I would have plenty of time to see results. Personally, using only organic skincare products has never been important to me, but I know it is to many other women. In my head, I just want something that works, organic or not! I know I should be more conscious of what I’m putting into my body and on my skin, so the fact that I’ve found an organic line that I like is a step in the right direction!

My mother-in-law gave me the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream saying that she had heard good things about it and she wasn’t able to use it herself due to sensitivities, so decided to let me try it out. I had heard of Juice Beauty before then, but hadn’t really done much research on their products. As an esthetician, I like to look around at lots of skincare lines to familiarize myself with new technologies and new ingredients doing great things.

What It’s About

I learned that the main ingredients in this eye cream are Malic Acid (apple juice), Reservatrol (grape juice), Vitamins C, E & B5, and Aloe leaf juice. Anytime you see Vitamins C and E in something you know it’s helping with wrinkles and fine lines. It’s good for any skin type, and is to be used nightly. I always recommend using eye creams at night because when you sleep, your skin is already working to repair any damage, so using it before you go to bed makes it sink in deeper and guarantees that you can get the most benefits from it.

The main goal of this eye cream is to visibly reduce dark circles, reduce the appearance of deep set wrinkles and fine lines, and to bring extra hydration to the whole eye area. As a mother of young kids it’s a given that I battle dark circles. As a woman in my late 20’s it’s a given that I’m beginning to focus more on anti-aging and preventing wrinkles. This eye cream interested me because I never thought using apple juice around my eyes would be a good idea with the fact that it may burn. BUT IT DOESN’T. The jojoba and shea butter work as nice emollients and I guess they help dilute the acid enough to make it not burn the sensitive area under the eyes.

Photo Feb 20, 3 36 45 PM

The applicator is really neat, and not one like I’ve seen before. Instead of coming in a jar that requires you to scoop out the product with your finger, it comes in a skinny bottle with a smooth-sided applicator as a lid. You press down so the eye cream comes out in the middle of this little circle and then apply it straight to the eye area without using your fingers. You begin at the inside corner near the nose and smooth it out to the outer corner, doing small circles along the way. The great thing about this eye cream is that it’s also meant to be used around the lips! That’s the beauty of organic skincare. You don’t have to worry if you ingest a little bit of it.

Photo Feb 20, 3 44 48 PM

So my experience with this organic eye cream was a pretty positive one. I haven’t noticed a major change in the fine lines around my lips yet, but I have noticed the crows feet around my eyes have started to smooth out. As for the dark circles, I definitely have seen a difference. There have been a few nights when I have forgotten to use it, and when I woke up I could definitely tell that I forgot. It keeps my eyes looking bright and energized! I don’t require a concealer anymore! I am anxious to see how long it takes before I notice a difference around my lips. I’ll post an update on that in a few weeks. This Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Eye Treatment retails for $50, and I think it’s very fairly priced for the results you’re receiving. A lot of other eye creams are asking a lot more and don’t do as much. I would rate it a 4/5!

{Facials} Why They Are Necessary To Maintain Beautiful Skin

As most of you know, I am a licensed Aesthetician, and I have been in the business for about 10 years now. With all of the advanced products out now, a lot of women are thinking, “why waste the time and money on a facial?” Well, let me tell you why you should.

Behind The Scenes

Image Source: Groupon

There’s so much more to a good facial treatment than just slapping some products on and then wiping them off. As an esthetician, we pay close attention to the products we choose to use on you. We evaluate your skin, decide what needs need to be met in the treatment that day, and then make the product choice. Obviously some products are too strong for certain skin types. Certain medications you are taking also effect our decision. There are lots of contraindications we have to watch out for. We are trained to know our ingredients and their effects on all skin types.

There are so many “miracle” products out now, but the women at Sephora and Ulta aren’t usually licensed estheticians. They don’t always know contraindications for certain skin types. They aren’t doing a detailed skin analysis and consultation to pick the exact right products for you. They know what a few “strong” ingredients do, so can throw you in a general direction. But in a facial treatment we get to know your skin before we put any products on it. Don’t get me wrong, having good home care products is very important! A lot of the work that goes into a facial is maintained through a good daily and nightly regimen. It’s like we are the personal trainers for your skin, and you’re continuing the work at home to maintain good results.

Like I said before, there’s more to facials than just slapping product on and wiping it off. The techniques we use when massaging products on the skin are way more important than you think. During the facial massage the techniques we use help with relieving muscle tension. When the muscles in the face get tight, wrinkles are the result! So getting regular facial massages help with the anti-aging and de-wrinkling process. It also speeds up the circulation in your face, neck, and décolleté which brings a natural glow to your skin, while also increasing your natural collagen production, and making it easier for products to be absorbed deeper into the skin.

There are also a lot of products that we have access to as licensed professionals than you have access to at Sephora. We have a lot of strong products that we are able to use on you that no one without training can be trusted with. Those products are incorporated into your facial treatments every time, so when you’re getting regular facials you are surely getting all of the good stuff!

One benefit of facials that I think is important for everyone to experience is RELAXATION! Everyone needs that time to turn their brain off, and to lay there and not worry about their phone. Allowing your mind and body to relax and melt into bliss is something that everyone needs to experience regularly, IMO. It can do so much for your mental health!

Image Source: Tres’ Bella Day Spa

There’s also a little thing called extractions! We take the time to extract blocked pores, working out all comedones and pimples, leaving your skin so much clearer! We have magnifying lamps that make it possible for us to see everything that you can’t. We can also reach places that you can’t see, so you aren’t able to do it yourself at home.

So taking the time once a month to go to the spa and receive a facial treatment is very necessary if you want your skin to be at its best! I truly believe that. Facial treatments are not a waste of money, or only for the rich. Do you get regular haircuts? Do you go to the dentist on a regular basis? The answer is yes, because you are meeting needs that are important for your body. Getting a facial is doing the same exact thing for your face.

If you live in the Tulsa area and would like to meet with me and receive a facial treatment and skin analysis and consultation, I would love to see you! I am at Ihloff Utica Square every Monday from 9-5. You can call 918-587-2566 to set up your appointment, and come prepared to be pampered! You’ll leave feeling completely relaxed and refreshed!

Where’s your favorite place to receive facials? Let me know in the comments!
