I have been getting some questions lately asking if I’ve used certain mascaras, so I thought I better hurry and put out my next round of reviews for you guys! I like to give (most) mascaras a lot of use so I can write an honest opinion on them, so it’s hard to get through enough to keep these reviews coming out quickly. Last round my absolute favorite was L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise (find the full review here), so I went into this round of mascara trials with that one as the one to beat!
Okay, so normally I just review regular mascaras but I wanted to add a little something extra this time so I tried out a mascara base to add to this round of reviews! I tried the Lancôme CILS Booster XL and I’m not sure I noticed a huge difference when I was wearing it. It goes on white and coats the lashes with a thin layer. I paired it with my favorite mascara (see above) and honestly didn’t feel like it did anything extra for me. Would I use it again? Probably not. But lots of reviews say that everyone else loves it, so maybe I’m just that one person who doesn’t love it? It retails for $25 at Ulta.
Covergirl Full Lash Bloom
This Mascara is just kind of…blah. There’s nothing special about it. I had to do 3 coats of it just to make my lashes look full. One coat of it barely accentuated my eyes. This mascara didn’t add any length or volume to my lashes. It’s not one of those mascaras that I’d use every day, but rather one of those mascaras that I’d save in my makeup bag for when I ran out of my usual and needed a backup. It is very affordable at just $6.19 a tube, but there are better choices for the same price.
IT Superhero Mascara
So I used this mascara because I’d heard lots of good things about it from friends, co-workers. I didn’t see what was so great about it. Apparently I was hard to please this round, because I wasn’t blown away. I like how dark it makes my lash line, and it does lengthen them quite a bit, but I didn’t notice a whole lot of extra volume or thickness. It makes a good backup mascara for when you run out of your regular one. I wouldn’t run out and buy it, but if you happen to get it in your birchbox or something it makes a nice save for later. Retails for $24 at Ulta.
Almay Mega Volume Mascara
Alright, here’s one that I really, really liked this round! The brush tip is differently shaped, kind of like a cone. And it works! My lashes definitely look longer, thicker, and it’s great at separating them as well! I will be keeping this one on my list of favorites, for sure! Especially with a price of only $6.99 a tube at Target! If you’re running low on your current mascara pick one of these tubes up the next time you’re out. You’ll thank me later!
