Bananas are amazing for your skin! Not only do you get amazing benefits from eating them, but you can also make your own banana face masks to get all you can out of them.
The Benefits:
Bananas are packed with lots of vitamins that your skin loves: manganese, vitamins C, E, and A, potassium, amino acids, and B-vitamins. These vitamins protect your skin against free radicals (that cause your skin to age faster), hydrate and moisturize, smooth aging skin, brighten dark spots, help maintain elasticity and strength, and fade acne scars.
There are several mask combinations containing bananas that you can make, depending on your main concerns. Today, though, I’m starting off with the most simple of banana masks- just one mashed banana!
To Make:
Peel one medium banana. Using a spoon, mash it up in a bowl until it has a creamy texture.
To Apply:
Using clean fingertips, apply a thick and even coating over your entire face and neck. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash your face with a light cleanser. Pat dry with a soft towel.
With it on.
After being removed.
(Em just HAD to join me.)
Adding Extra Ingredients:
For Acne Scars- One small banana, one good squeeze of lemon juice, and 1 tsp. of honey.
For Dry Skin- One small banana, 1/2 cup of plain yogurt, and 1 tbsp. of ground oatmeal. (You can substitute the yogurt for 1/4 cup of milk.)
It isn’t a pretty mask, but it does make your skin feel awesome afterwards! I haven’t even reapplied my moisturizer yet and my skin feels so smooth.
