Moms Who Need a Pick-Me-Up

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve found the perfect toothbrush!

The Smile Brilliant CariPRO Ultrasonic Toothbrush has been the best decision for me! I bought a cheap Oral B electric toothbrush several months back and I always felt like it hurt my gums. The tip was so big and bulky, and the spin was too intense for my sensitive teeth. Then in comes my Ultrasonic Toothbrush and away went the teeth sensitivity!

This brush has 5 settings:

Clean (for a deeper cleanse)

White (for an extra whitening boost! Which I love, by the way, since I’m a frequent coffee drinker.)

Massage (gum stimulation, good to be paired with another mode.)

Gum Care (for a gentle gum cleansing, which is good to pair with another mode, as well.)

Sensitive (for people like me who struggle with teeth sensitivity but want a powerful clean without the intensity and pain.)

I switch up the modes that I brush with, using White and Sensitive the most, because those are my two main areas of concern. One thing I especially love about the Ultrasonic that sets it apart from other electric toothbrushes is the small brush head. Sounds random, but think about it- a smaller brush head means a more comfortable fit, especially for women!

••20% off cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrushes with my code: 20browneyedandblushing

Comes with one brush head replacement, and a charging stand! Super simple and straightforward to use, and is good for all ages!

Each brushing mode is designed to operate for 2 minutes, with brief pauses between each 30 second burst. That brief pause tells you to move to a different quadrant of the mouth.

I’ve seen an improvement in the color of my teeth, looking brighter and more white, and I’ve felt an improvement in the sensitivity! I’ve been using this electric toothbrush for almost a month now, and I am beyond happy with my results!

Urban Air Adventure Park

Friends, it’s been awhile! I’ve been having a really great year, focusing on my family and my career simultaneously, which means I’ve been spending less time posting here. My kids are fastly approaching summer break, and I for one couldn’t be happier! I love having that extra time with them, doing fun things every week, making memories.

We just got the chance to go to Urban Air Adventure Park as a family, and guys, that place blew me away! There were so many things to do, not just for children, but for us adults, too! Trampolines, ball pits with obstacle courses, play zones with fun slides, zip lines, climbing and ropes courses, dodgeball, and dueling over a foam pit, I mean the list goes on and on! While we were there I discovered that they have a $6.99 endless play deal for kids- which I definitely will have to take advantage of this summer.

Not only did we play for hours, but we stopped into their cafe for dinner first. Pizza, wings, fries- my kids’ dream dinner. Okay, maybe mine, too. I loved having that available to us! We could have dinner together without the kids begging to leave and barely eating because they just wanted to get to the “jumpy place”.

It was definitely a fun time, and I’d highly recommend it for any family with kids of all ages! I know that they even offer group packages for companies, and for birthday parties! Loved it, and will definitely be back soon!

*We played just as hard as the kids! Woke up the next morning feeling like I had run a marathon the day before! Totally worth it.

Yeouthful Appearance

I was super excited to receive my very first Yeouth Skin Care product a week ago! I ordered their Anti-Aging Super Serum from the Walmart website, and I was pleasantly surprised by all of the benefits I’ve seen (and felt) so far after only a week of use!

This specific Yeouth serum uses Vitamins C and E, Hyaluronic acid, and Ferulic acid to work together to fight off free radicals that will bury into your skin and contribute to a faster aging process. Free radicals are to blame for their part in the decreasing of collagen and elasticity in your skin These ingredients will hydrate and plump your skin as well, which is an important factor when your goal is to have a more youthful appearance.

I have been applying this serum every night under my cream to my neck, face, and chest. It’s pretty concentrated so I’ve been using about 4 pumps to cover everything I want. It smells so different than I anticipated! It has almost a sweet smell to it, which I really enjoy. But I think my absolute favorite thing about this product is the way it sinks into my skin and doesn’t leave an oily film on the surface like so many other serums.

I have only been using this product for a short amount of time so I can’t attest to how well it works on my deeper-set wrinkles, but I feel like the overall appearance of my skin looks healthier! It’s definitely smoother and brighter. It’s priced at $29.95, which is very affordable, especially for the quality of product that you’re getting.

Have you tried any Yeouth products before? Let me know what you thought!

Exciting Announcement!

I know it’s been forever and a day since I’ve posted anything, but life has been pretty crazy! I could tell you all of the many, many things that have occupied my time the past several months but this post would be ridiculously long. I have made a decision that I am super stoked about! I’ve accepted an Aesthetician position at Jara Herron Medical Spa here in Tulsa!

It’s a local medical spa and salon with two locations, one on Brookside and another at 91st and Yale. I had been at my previous position for over 10 years so this decision was not made lightly. I am very excited about the new array of services I’ll be able to offer my clients, along with learning to use several new skincare lines that I’ve never used professionally before! Eminence, an organic skincare line with their own peels for any skin type, iS CLINICAL, an amazing line that has many great products for wrinkles and fine lines, and SkinCeuticals, which is my absolute favorite with amazing products great for scarring, wrinkles, acne, and dark spots!

You can expect so many product reviews in your future! I have a lot to cover! Also will be doing a few before/after photos to show you how certain peels and services work for your skin! I begin taking clients on March 1st at the 91st and Yale location, and you can call 19187423223 to book your services! My schedule will be Tuesday’s 12-5 (and one Tuesday a month I’ll be taking clients from 12-8), Wednesday’s 10-5, Thursday’s 9-5 and Friday’s 9-5.

You are welcome to contact me with any questions! ashley@browneyedandblushing.com

Teeth Whitening For The Busy, Coffee Drinking Mama

About 6 weeks ago I began the journey of brightening my smile with my very first teeth whitening kit! I am so shocked by the results I’ve gotten in just over a month of use that I can’t imagine what my smile will look like in another month! Especially taking into account the several cups of coffee that I’ve still been drinking every day, which I can’t survive without. Okay, okay, and the occasional glass of wine.

**GIVEAWAY LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST**

Smile Brilliant

The kit that I have been using is the Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Kit, which uses a custom mold to create teeth whitening trays for a comfortable fit. They mail you a molding kit, you do your impressions and mail it right back. The process only takes a few minutes, and they are quick to get your trays made and mailed back to you so you can begin within only a week or two!

My yellowing teeth have been bothering me for awhile now but I have been so busy with my little ones that it has taken me awhile to do something about it. Now that I know how simple and easy and non-time consuming it is I think I should have started it years ago! I’ve discovered the best time for me to whiten is in the mornings after breakfast. I pop the trays in and am able to take my daughter to school and run errands all while not even having to think about it! You can leave this whitener on as long as 3 hours! Then I remove the trays and brush with water to get the excess gel off of my teeth. Some days I use the desensitizing gel right after to help sooth some of the sensitivity, but that’s usually when I’ve kept it on for several hours. I’ve also used it in the evenings before bed while binging on Netflix (Haunting of Hill House anyone?).

I always have been and always will be a coffee drinker. Not so good for my teeth, but I just can’t stop. I can see a HUGE difference in the color of my teeth, even while continuing to drink my daily coffee. Seriously, this stuff is magic. I’ve taken a before/after picture to show you just how much has changed in a little over a month of use.

If you are self-conscious of your teeth, you are not alone. I was there 2 months ago. If you have been on the fence about it, you should just go for it! It’s low maintenance and they make it super convenient to use for the busy moms! The greatest accessory to fun lipstick is a bright white smile!

Living Proof

Ever since I had my son 20 months ago I’ve been battling hair breakage, thinning, and I’ve lost the soft, shiny hair I once had. This past summer I made it my goal to work harder to get my hair back. I tried new products, and I wanted to learn new ways to style my hair to hide all of the flyaways and new baby hairs that were growing back in. So I tried a few things, but quickly discovered that I just wasn’t born with the ability to style my hair. Lol. But I was determined to at least make some progress! I focused more on consistently nourishing it by doing hair masks in the shower. I used my flat iron and curling wand just once a week, IF THAT, and I used products that I’ve heard from friends and family were worth the money. That’s what brought me to the Living Proof line!

5-In-1 Styling Treatment

For this product, a little bit goes a long way. It’s very easy to use, which is another reason why I love it. I don’t need complicated or “must pair with this other product”, I need simple and effective. When your hair is damp (I even use it when my hair is dry), you work a small amount of the styling creme through your hair, working from roots to ends. At this point I usually go about my business, do my makeup, whiten my teeth (more on this to come later), etc. because normally I let my hair air dry.

Once it’s dry I brush through my hair and get a tiny bit more of the styling creme to work through my hair one more time.

At this point I will either leave it to be my natural, wavy hair, or I’ll straighten or curl it. I really wish I had remembered to take a before photo, because although my hair isn’t super sleek in this picture below, it’s sooo much better than it was a few months ago. Seriously, it was all frizz and flyaways. My hair is finally returning to how it used to be before my last pregnancy! I am literally living proof that Living Proof works wonders!

“Styles with volume and smoothness

  • Conditions and strengthens
  • Adds shine
  • Heat protection (up to 450°F/230°C)
  • UV protection
  • Silicone-free
  • Color safe
  • Safe for chemically treated hair” livingproof.com

Because this 5-in-1 Styling Treatment has worked wonders for me it’s convinced me to branch out and try more of their products. I don’t have to live with my dull, frizzy hair anymore! Seriously, if anyone has questions about my experience with this product please email me, message me on Instagram, or Facebook! I am a true believer in this stuff!

Falling In Love With Fall Style

I realize it’s been like a month since I last posted, and I’m so sorry! I’ve talked a little about it over on my Instagram, but I have begun taking some classes and getting into the whole school thing, which has been taking up most of my free time. I stay pretty active on my Insta page still, so if you want daily updates follow me there!

It’s been consistently feeling like fall here in Oklahoma and so naturally I’m in such a good mood every day. I cannot get enough of the fall colors! I swear if I could live somewhere that always felt and looked like fall I would be there in a heartbeat. I especially love the fall attire that comes with the cooler temps. I’ve been trying to branch out more and get some more color into my closet (because most of you already know that I wear a lot of black!), so I’ve been really loving all of the amazingly priced clothes at Target this season.

I’ve also been trying to add in more accessories to my outfits, and this black Universal Thread hat is the best choice I’ve made all season! Goes with anything, and definitely adds some flare to my casual style.

Nordstrom Rack has also been a regular shopping stop for me lately, which is where I picked up these jeans, gray sweater, and black booties! I swear they are always having sales. I also have been wearing this gray sweater dress from Gap on repeat! I love that I can dress it up or down, and I am pretty sure it’s the most comfortable dress I own.

I am all about green this season! I think I officially own more green tops than any other color now, and I don’t hate it. I am finally branching out and stepping out of my black wardrobe habits.

I have been dropping into a few local Tulsa boutiques the past month and have been searching for one with super affordable sweaters and accessories. I have found tons of cute items but none that were really easily affordable. I would love to start supporting local shops more.

Do you have a fave boutique that I should stop into? Let me know where I should look next!

Mascara Reviews {Round 5}

I have been getting some questions lately asking if I’ve used certain mascaras, so I thought I better hurry and put out my next round of reviews for you guys! I like to give (most) mascaras a lot of use so I can write an honest opinion on them, so it’s hard to get through enough to keep these reviews coming out quickly. Last round my absolute favorite was L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise (find the full review here), so I went into this round of mascara trials with that one as the one to beat!

Lancôme

Okay, so normally I just review regular mascaras but I wanted to add a little something extra this time so I tried out a mascara base to add to this round of reviews! I tried the Lancôme CILS Booster XL and I’m not sure I noticed a huge difference when I was wearing it. It goes on white and coats the lashes with a thin layer. I paired it with my favorite mascara (see above) and honestly didn’t feel like it did anything extra for me. Would I use it again? Probably not. But lots of reviews say that everyone else loves it, so maybe I’m just that one person who doesn’t love it? It retails for $25 at Ulta.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom

This Mascara is just kind of…blah. There’s nothing special about it. I had to do 3 coats of it just to make my lashes look full. One coat of it barely accentuated my eyes. This mascara didn’t add any length or volume to my lashes. It’s not one of those mascaras that I’d use every day, but rather one of those mascaras that I’d save in my makeup bag for when I ran out of my usual and needed a backup. It is very affordable at just $6.19 a tube, but there are better choices for the same price.

IT Superhero Mascara

So I used this mascara because I’d heard lots of good things about it from friends, co-workers. I didn’t see what was so great about it. Apparently I was hard to please this round, because I wasn’t blown away. I like how dark it makes my lash line, and it does lengthen them quite a bit, but I didn’t notice a whole lot of extra volume or thickness. It makes a good backup mascara for when you run out of your regular one. I wouldn’t run out and buy it, but if you happen to get it in your birchbox or something it makes a nice save for later. Retails for $24 at Ulta.

Almay Mega Volume Mascara

Alright, here’s one that I really, really liked this round! The brush tip is differently shaped, kind of like a cone. And it works! My lashes definitely look longer, thicker, and it’s great at separating them as well! I will be keeping this one on my list of favorites, for sure! Especially with a price of only $6.99 a tube at Target! If you’re running low on your current mascara pick one of these tubes up the next time you’re out. You’ll thank me later!

*What should I try next? Comment and let me know!*

Instagram Recap {August}

I mentioned a few posts ago that I am more active on my Instagram page (@browneyedandblushing), so I recommend you follow me there for daily updates!

But for those of you who only follow me here, I’ll go ahead and do a recap of the beauty products and fashion finds I’ve posted about over the past month!

Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque

This is a Masque that I use fairly often, especially on my guests at work. (I’m an Esthetician at Ihloff Salon and Day Spa Utica Square in Tulsa.) I use it when my face (or a client’s face) has a lot of cloggage and dull looking skin. It is the best mask for pulling out impurities without drying out your skin and it always sloughs off the top layer of dead skin to reveal a healthy glow. I highly recommend this mask, and if you want to try it out in a facial hit me up if you’re near the Tulsa area!

Date Night Out

I wore this outfit on our last date night around our town of Broken Arrow! Black booties, and a black bag are usually my go-to. I wore dark washed Gap jeans and this ADORABLE feminine top that’s from Target. This top has a little texture to it that you can’t really see, and black vertical stripes running up and down. Not to mention the cut out-style sleeves with ties at the top.

Moroccan Magic Lip Balm

This lip balm has risen to the top (tied with Burt’s Bees) as my go-to lip balm. It’s infused with Moroccan oil, and has yummy flavors that are different than anything else I’ve ever tried, like coconut almond (pictured above), lemon and thyme, and rose. My lips stay hydrated for hours and I swear it really is the smoothest lip balm out there!

Lancôme Mascara Base

So I am actually working on another mascara review and I include this lash booster in with it, but what I will tell you is that it’s supposed to be worn underneath your typical mascara to increase curl, length, and thickness. I’ll hopefully be sharing that review this upcoming week, so check back for those details soon!

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom

This Mascara is also included in that upcoming review, but here’s a little hint: it’s not the best mascara I’ve ever used.

Target Try On Session

I covered this in my Instastories a few weeks ago! I took my son along for the ride, so excuse the mess (and random shoes) in the background. Jeans and shoes are both Target as well as all of the tops I’m wearing. The green romper is something that I normally wouldn’t pick out for myself, but I was drawn to it. The olive color is really pretty and perfect for fall, and it was comfortable! Dark washed jeans are my favorite, so you’ll rarely see me in light colored jeans. I got these boots a month ago to start preparing for fall (they’re also available in black)! I’m in love with every top that I tried on, but only left with a few. I chose my favorites and will go back for the others a little at a time. If you’re able to go buy a bunch of clothes at once, look at Target for some good fall pieces!

Nordstrom Rack Try On Session

Obviously with it being September the fall prep has begun! I have been selling some items from previous years online and some items on Poshmark to kinda clear out my closet to make room for some updates.

This weekend Nordstrom Rack has a good clearance sale happening and several of the tops from above are included in that! Somehow I always end up trying on a couple of black tops, and Nordstrom Rack has some unique ones! The shoes I’m wearing are from Target, and the jeans from American Eagle. All of the tops are NR. They’re all fairly priced and I saw tons and tons of great fall options!

elf Cosmetics Pore Refining Peel Off Mask

I did a full review on this last month, but I thought I’d clump it in here for anyone who may have missed it. I used it all over my face the first time, and I will admit that was a mistake. I go more into detail on that review I was talking about, but I quickly realized this should be used as more of a spot treatment mask for myself than an overall one. I don’t have large pores all over my face, and I only struggle with clogged pores sometimes and only in certain areas. So if you are like me- DON’T use it on your entire face! Anyway, you can go read that post for the end result details.

Opal House Rug

My home is slowly coming together a little at a time! This is my entryway and entrance to our office, and so I wanted to put a rug here that complimented the area, but also added a little pop of color! Opal House at Target is totally that- a pop of color! They make amazing home furnishings and decor that are bright and different! I have a feeling this rug purchase was the first of many Opal House pieces for my house!

My Nightly Skincare Routine

As an Esthetician I love sharing my product finds with everyone and what works well for me. I have had some recent questions about my morning and evening routines and it made me realize I haven’t shared those with you all in a long time! I share about random products all of the time, but haven’t actually shared my whole morning or evening routine.

I struggle with dry skin, usually just around my nose, and oiliness on my forehead and chin. This combination skin type sometimes makes it harder for me to find a balanced routine, since most lines are for dry OR oily skin types. I have found a good way to mix and match my brands that focus on different issues to bring my skin to a healthy place that I’m happy with. Every other evening I switch to a different routine, but keep it very similar.

I can’t use the BeautyCounter Cleansing Balm every night because then my face feels too oily, but if I use it every other night it makes my skin feel balanced.

So every other night I use my FAVORITE CLEANSER EVER- Air Repair Cleansing Milk. On these evenings, I add the Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion because I want to add that extra barrier of protection that I’m not getting from the Cleansing Balm.

The products that stay the same every night are the Air Repair Facial Mist, Air Repair Hydrating Serum, and Algenist Anti-Aging Eye Cream. The Facial Mist is used to balance out the pH of the skin, and bring out a healthy glow. The Hydrating Serum (full review here) is used to protect my skin from free radicals and toxins from burying in my pores, and to help my skin look more youthful, and the Algenist Eye Cream is used to diminish wrinkles around and under my eyes.

I’ll share my morning routine later this week, and how that focuses more on the oiliness in my skin. It may sound confusing to some people how I change my routine up so much, but it definitely works! I’m dedicated to keeping my skin healthy and looking good!
